Please note--the absolute cheapest package for $24.99 only has 50 channels and doesn't include the Showtime package, but other packages starting at $29.99 (I recommend the $39.99 package with DVR service and 200 channels--and does include STARZ) does include Showtime.
And please don't believe the myth that EVERY time it rains, the dish goes out. It was pouring rain and I still haven't had it go out. Customer service is #1. The first bill doesn't include the rebate, but you don't have installation costs.
PS. You can refer your friends to DirecTV. When you sign up, tell them to call that same number but give them your referral code (account number).
